How To Get Wings In Terraria

So, you’ve just started hardmode, and you want to unlock the power that is flight, but you don’t know where to start. Well, you’ve come to the right place. So, how do you get wings in Terraria?

Well, there are several pairs of wings that you can craft in hardmode, depending on what stage of the game you’re in, but for now, we’ll just say you’ve just beat the Wall of Flesh and have no idea what you’re doing. Firstly, you’ll need the most important part of any pair of wings: souls of flight. In hardmode, you’ll be seeing lots of different types of souls, but souls of flight are the ones that, well, let you fly.

To get them, you’ll need to slay one or two wyverns, which spawns on very high in the sky. You’ll want to tower up to about or right below space (you’ll know where space is when you start hearing the music and the sky gets darker). Most Floating Islands are at about this level, so if you’ve found any of them, you can just go there. From that point, you just wait. Lots of Harpies will spawn, but you’ll usually need to wait to see a Wyvern. In the meantime, collect the feathers and look out for giant harpy feathers. You might be needing them later. When a wyvern does eventually spawn, be ready; they can be tough to defeat and have a lot of health. Piercing weapons such as jesters’ arrows can help. If you do manage to kill one, you’ll usually need to build up to where it died in order to collect the souls of flight, since (fittingly) they float. Just repeat this process until you have 20 souls.

Then, it’s time for the other one or two components. You have six options as to which pair of wings you will want to craft. There are the angel wings, the demon wings, the leaf wings, the fairy wings, the frozen wings, and the harpy wings. All of these wings are at about the same level in terms of how much flight they grant you, so you might want to check each of the wings’ crafting description below to see if you already have the materials in hand to make one of them.

The Angel Wings

The angel wings can be crafted with 20 souls of flight, 10 feathers, and 15 souls of light. Feathers drop from harpies, and you can get souls of light from enemies in the underground hallow biome. The underground hallow biome is below the above-ground hallow and is near the depth of the underworld.

The Demon Wings

The demon wings can be crafted with 20 souls of flight, 15 souls of night, and 10 feathers. Feathers are dropped by harpies. Souls of night can be dropped by enemies in the underground corruption, which is under the surface-level corruption, and is near the depth of the underworld.

The Leaf Wings

The leaf wings can be sold by the Witch Doctor, but only after you defeat Plantera. It also has to be night and you have to be in the jungle biome when you but them. However, they cost 1 platinum and 50 gold coins, so if you’re tight on cash, I don’t recommend this pair of wings.

The Fairy Wings

The fairy wings can be made with 20 souls of flight and 99 pixie dust. Pixie dust drops from pixies, which spawn in the surface-level hallow biome.

Frozen Wings

The frozen wings can be crafted with 20 souls of flight and one ice feather. Ice feathers drop from ice golems, which spawn in the snow biome, but only when there is a blizzard.

The Harpy Wings

The harpy wings can be crafted with 20 souls of flight and one giant harpy feather. Giant harpy feathers are dropped by harpies at a small chance.

I hope that this article has helped you in your Terraria playthrough. And if you’re interested in a nice new Switch controller that’ll make your gameplay experience on the Nintendo Switch miles better, consider buying the Hori Wireless Pro Controller for the Nintendo Switch. I own a Hori controller, and I love it. It’s honestly so much better than the standard Switch Joy Cons. When I use my Hori Controller, to me, it makes the Switch feel less like a small handheld console and more like a home console, which is a feel that I appreciate sometimes. You can pick one up at https://amzn.to/423FMKx (please note that, as part of the Amazon Affiliate Program, I will make a small amount of money based off of whether people buy a controller from this link).

  Have a nice day.
