Terraria’s Last Update

If you have been a long term fan of Terraria, you might know that the updates are coming to an end soon. Re-Logic, the main developers of the beloved sandbox game have decided to finalize the game with what is potentially a final update that is set to come out sometime this year. There is a lot to expect from this final update, including bug fixes, new items, and a crossover event. Without further ado, let’s dive into the details.

We’ll start off with some exciting new items. A leak from the terraria developers have led people to expect three new summoner whips to be added to the game. The leak, which is an image shown below, shows four whips that have been in the game, along with three more that are subtly hidden in the bottom of the image. A reddit user by the name of daniersy890 then took this image and did some magic-y edity-y stuff to make the text bubble transparent and expose what two of the whips that were previously hidden look like. The first whip on the left looks like a sort of stardust whip, possibly crafted with stardust fragments. The one in the middle pointed out by fans, appears to be a Duke Fishron whip, and the whip on the right appears to be, again pointed out by fans, a Moon Lord whip.

Well, what does this mean? For the stardust whip, it means that one of the current stardust weapons might be replaced with this whip. The whip might also just co-exist with both stardust summon weapons, but that would mean that the stardust pillar would have three weapons, while each other pillar has two. The Duke Fishron whip might make the Duke Fishron fight more worthwhile for summoners. The Moon Lord whip might make for a good post-Moon Lord whip, and it is likely to top any other whip in the game.

The addition of these whips might also change the path of hardmode progression for summoners. For example, since the stardust and Duke Fishron whips are potentially being added to the game, people might not fight empress of light and instead fight Duke Fishron for the Fishron whip. Some people might also just avoid both bosses altogether and just get the stardust whip as their last whip of the game.

There is also a lot of potential for other items to be added to the game. One item showcased in a video (see video below) made by Re-Logic is the shimmer water gun, which is more of a novelty item. A few more items may be added to Terraria in hopes of further balancing the progression of the game, but for now, these are the ones that are basically confirmed.

Shimmer Water Gun (very cool)

There are also many bugs that currently exist in the game that might be fixed. A couple interesting examples of bugs include a glitch that can be used to duplicate items on some versions of Terraria. This bug involves closing Terraria at a very specific moment when saving and exiting the world to duplicate any item that you want. One exploit that is pretty fun to play around with is projectile limit. Here, I say exploit because it is an intended feature that some people decided to play around with to cheese bosses. Most Terraria bosses have some sort of projectile attack that can damage the player, many of the bosses relying on these projectiles. Well, if you just fill up your world’s projectile limit, which is how many projectiles (arrows, bullets, etc.) can be in your world at one time, you can prevent any of the bosses’ projectiles from spawning, making many bosses very easy to defeat. If you want to see this in action, I recommend watching this video by YouTuber Wand of Sparking, where, near the end, he uses this method to defeat the Moon Lord with just a Finch Staff and endgame equipment.

Finally, we have what is probably the final big crossover between Terraria and another game. Re-Logic and Motion Twin, the team behind the popular game Dead Cells have decided to do a collaboration between Dead Cells and Terraria. For this event, you can expect content from Terraria, such as the Guide and Star Fury sword, to be added to Dead Cells, and content from Dead Cells, possibly one or two of the swords. A lot is to come from this crossover event that has not been confirmed by either Re-Logic or Motion Twin, so stay tuned for future information.
What is possibly the last Terraria update to add content, update 1.4.5., promises a lot in terms of content, even with it being one of the smaller Terraria content updates. So, get excited, Terraria fans, for the last Terraria update.
